A INTERNACIONAL

A IS (Internacional Socialista) é uma organização que devemos temer como poucas. A sua força e poder de lobby são absolutamente aterradoras.

Será teoria da conspiração, ou pode alguém explicar, sem recorrer ao argumento da cabala como é que a Sociedade Alfred Nobel, de forma re-incidente, distingue personagens com calibre do recém galardoado Harold Pinter?

Confesso desconhecer as delícias da prosa do senhor, sei no entanto, que o dito artista apoia instituições como a Cuba Solidarity Campaign, um movimento que gosta de afirmar que "Cuba é o estado mais democrático do mundo" e que, muito apropriadamente nos coloca questões como:

"If Castro is such a dictator, why did he receive such overwhelming support in the elections?",

ou nos presenteia com afirmações como esta:

"Until 1959 Cuba was a third-world country that served as a provider of sugar, cigars and cattle for the benefit of a few large companies and landowners...Despite the US’s attempts to ostracize and destroy the Cuban state on the one hand, and the economic crisis the island suffered in the 90s with the collapse of its main trading partners in Eastern Europe on the other, socialist Cuba has managed to achieve advancements of which the majority of Cubans living in 1959 and the present populations of other Latin American countries could only dream."

Pela sua própria pena, Pinter afirma:

"The most astonishing thing about Cuba is quite simply that it has survived. After over 35 years of the most ruthless economic violence, 35 years of unremit- ling and virulent hostility from the US, Cuba remains an independent sovereign state. This is a quite remarkable achieve- ment. Not many states have remained independent or 'sovereign' for long in the US backyard...Its achievements are remarkable. It constructed a health ser- vice which can hardly be rivalled and established an extraordinary level of lit- eracy. All this the US found to be abom- inable Marxist-Leninist subversion and naturally set out to destroy it. It has failed. And it must be true to say that Cuba could never have survived unless it possessed a formidable centre of pride, faith and solidarity."

A sua hipocrisia e veneno são bem desmascaradas neste artigo.

Será de mim, ou começa a notar-se um padrão na atribuição destes galardões? Haverá ou não uma dinâmica pouco clara conducente a que tralha da marca dos Saramagos e Pinters, seja distinguida nestes processos como forma de dar voz a uma mensagem de luta? Gente desta, não deveria sequer ser elegível para a atribuição de prémios de tão elevada distinção. É o mundo que temos, é o mundo com que temos de saber viver.
